My name is Ivonne Garcia, and I am a licensed clinical social worker providing online therapy for anxiety and more to adults throughout North Carolina and Florida. Originally from Florida, I spent most of my life there before taking a leap of faith and moving to North Carolina with my family—a transition that taught me firsthand about uncertainty, change, and starting over.
I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work from Florida International University, where I received advanced training in mental health support for children, families, and adults facing challenges related to both mental health and substance use. Throughout my career, I worked within one of Florida's largest healthcare systems, providing support to individuals and families navigating illness, grief, caregiving responsibilities, and major life transitions. It was meaningful work that deepened my appreciation for the resilience people carry, even during some of life's most difficult seasons. After spending over 15 years serving others in the mental health field, I took time to explore new opportunities and focus on personal growth. Yet I continually felt drawn back to what I love most—helping people navigate life's challenges and reconnect with themselves. That calling ultimately led me to open Sunshine Haven Therapy.
Today, I focus on helping adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing patterns, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and significant life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, or uncertain about their next chapter.
My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness techniques. These methods help clients gain insight, develop practical tools, and create a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling. I also understand that life rarely unfolds exactly as planned. I've experienced periods of uncertainty, transition, and self-discovery in my own life, which allows me to appreciate how difficult change can feel. My goal is to provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel understood, challenged, and empowered to move forward.
If you're ready to create more balance, confidence, connection, and joy in your life, I would be honored to walk alongside you on that journey.
